He married twice. He married Rosannah Widener. (Additional notes for Rosannah Widener⁽⁸³¹⁾) He married Lydia Ann Thomas December 4, 1884. Lydia was born 1866. Lydia was the daughter of Rebecca Jane Thomas.

James William "Jim Creek" Thomas and Lydia Ann Thomas had the following children:
